Baby pictures

The babies are here. We had 3 boys and 1 girl. Unfortunately we lost the little girl due to hypothermia. She was born during the night and the mother didn't clean her up after she was born. By the time we got there, it was too late. So I'm already milking full-time (twice a day). Usually I don't do that until we wean the babies at 6 weeks old. The three boys were born Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28.

Here are a few pictures of the little guys. These were taken when they were less than an hour old.

Introducing: Capricorn

Standing: Fluffy
Splayed out on the ground: Capricorn

Here's Bunny
Three guesses as to why he's named Bunny. And the first two don't count.

This is what I get for letting one of the kids take the pictures.

We watch to make sure the babies can get milk on their own without our help.

The Princess and Fluffy. Sounds like the title of a good fairy tale, doesn't it?

It's hard work being born. Time for a nap.

It's almost showtime!

Our goat babies are due to arrive next week! I can't even begin to describe the excitement. We are trying to get ahead in our schoolwork so we can take time off next week; however, we think goat babies can make for some interesting school as well.

Rose: due Sunday

Ellie: due Tuesday

Iris: due Thursday

Forsythia, it's almost showtime!

Saturday

My man made me this cold frame cover for one of my 4x4 garden beds. I planted some lettuce, peas, spinach, onions, and cabbage today. Hopefully it will work. I've never done this before.

My garlic is sprouting. I planted it the end of last October.

We ran our mower for the first time this year today. No mowing, just joy-riding.

It was a beautiful sunset.

A late winter, spring-like day

We had some warm spring-like temperatures this weekend, and we spent the entire day Saturday outside.

This is the biggest of my two male red Kentucky bourbon turkeys. This one rules the roost. He is an impressive, imposing creature. Lady turkeys: watch out! Tom Terrific is on the scene. It's especially attractive the way he drags his wing feather-tips on the ground when he's all fluffed up.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when we started keeping full-grown toms, but so far we have had no problems of aggression as sometimes happens with roosters.

Speaking of roosters, this one landed in solitary confinement this weekend. Here is his picture B.C.*

Our lovely home - with recently added front porch. Ideas for landscaping anyone?

Our preferred vacation food: ice cream.

Apparently we didn't get a lot of non-Disney pictures. That is because they encourage the culture of picture-taking at Disney. I guess it's more important to record the moment rather than live it. People there actually spend large amounts of time standing in line to have their picture taken with various characters, which bewilders me.

We did spend four non-Disney days in Florida. But when I asked the kids on the way home what they thought of Disney, they wondered why, while they were there, Whole Foods didn't blow up and scatter free samples all over Wal-Mart, including free Bionicles. ??? Oh yes, Disney is the place where Dreams Come True. Dream fulfillment was overtly promised in all the billboards we saw on the way there. My kids' dreams emphatically did not come true at Disney. Breach of promise.

"You know what?" I asked them.

"What?" they replied.

"Disney World is just one big scam," I said.

"Yeah, Disney World is one big pbthpbth," agreed The Princess.

Yep, we had fun.
